Delayed, Again

Every time you seem to make a bit of headway on a big project, you run into big problems, and I know this newest problem is going to take a while to fix.

Patching and upgrading an ailing computer can only stave off the terminal PC illness so long, and the dreaded date of finality has arrived for my computer. Not only did it completely die, it took the majority of the project with it.

I do have the first couple of months worth of work backed up to an external hard drive, and on my laptop, which is what I am currently using. I have decided to build a new computer, and I hope it will only delay me about 2 or 3 weeks, before I can get started back on the project again.

Time in a Capsule

I wish I had more time. Working on this project has given me a clear understanding why movie producers have so much stress on their minds as they work on their projects. One thing is very clear: it's hard to work on a movie project if you also have a full time job, expecially when the full time job isn't working on your project. Most producers and directors have the liberty of working on these motion pictures as their main form of income.

Doing it on the side with other responsibilities is definitely a challenge!

Days 1 and 2 are done, but I'm having trouble with the resolution and screen size, like I knew I would. For some reason the footage appears to be smushed into a viewing box that does not represent the actual size, giving a "squeezed" picture look. The photographs are fine.

Preliminary Movie Framework

The basic framework of the actual movie will be based on a day-by-day, journal-based, chapter-scripted picture. Each day will be a chapter, with special events being inserted in special cameo shorts at the appropiate intervals between the chapters.

Such special events would be the Wall Sit Competition, the trip there and back, and the train ride. Although the train ride was part of Day 1, it is a chapter and event in itself, which will give it its own designated chapter/role.

Although the majority of media brought back from the trip was still photographs, I'm working on trying to diversify the movie, to where the balance between special material, moving footage, and photographs, is a stable and flowing experience.

The crucial element of the opening musical score has still not been decided on. I don't know whether to use the "theme song" from the CD, or a more cinematic opening with the theme song at the end. Please help me with this tough decision.

Pre-Production Blog Release

Hello all!

I have decided to post the status and progress of the movie production in its own blog, not only to give a centralized location for the the news and stats of the movie, but also to showcase the work as it moves along, keeping everyone informed.

This blog is also intended for feedback on the production. Any advice, tips, ideas, contributions or corrections are welcomed, and are in fact encouraged. I want this to be as much a team effort as the trip itself was, and I would love to everyone's input.

Thank you all!
